Keyence FD‑EC Flowmeter

Supported Devices

Device TypeVariantsModbus TCP (Ethernet)RS485Curtailment
Keyence FD‑EC SeriesFD‑ECA1 / FD‑ECA1C / FD‑ECA0 (Amplifier units)

Wiring

The SmartgridOne Controller communicates with the FD‑EC amplifier via Ethernet (Modbus TCP).
Connect the Ethernet cable from the amplifier unit to any free controller network port or network switch on the same LAN.

RS485 Wiring
  • For correct RS485 wiring: Follow the guidelines for RS485 wiring.
  • If the wiring shown in the table below is incorrect, please let us know.
  • There is no general consensus in the industry about the usage of A and B for the RS485 polarity, so it may be counterintuitive and opposite of what you might expect for some devices.

NOTE: RS485 Device Addresses
  • You MUST give each device on the RS485 bus a unique address. Check the manual of the device on how to do this.
  • Use lower addresses first (1, 2, ...) because the SmartgridOne Controller will find them faster!
  • For each device, it is generally recommended to stick with the factory default baud rate, parity, and stop bits. The SmartgridOne Controller will scan on those first.

Software Configuration (Installer Menu)

1. Add the Device

  1. On the SmartgridOne Controller screen or web interface, open
Settings → Devices → Add Device.
  2. Select “Keyence Flowmeter protocol” from the device list.
  3. Choose TCP as the connection type.

2. Enter Connection Details

  1. In the connection window, enter:
    • IP address – the address of the FD‑EC amplifier (for example: 192.168.1.120).
    • TCP port502 (default).
    • Slave address1 (fixed value for this model).
  2. Save to return to the device list.
tip

To find or set the amplifier’s IP address, use the MP‑F Monitor software or the setup menu on the amplifier display.
Keep your controller and the FD‑EC on the same local subnet.

3. Configure Data Channels

  1. Open the Keyence Flowmeter device settings screen.
  2. Set the number of connected flow sensors (for example, 1 or 2).
  3. For each sensor, enable or disable data channels such as:
    • Flow rate (L/min)
    • Total water usage (L)
    • Temperature (°C)
    • Heat power (kW)
    • Energy consumption (kWh)
  4. Save your changes and press Apply Configuration.
warning

Avoid polling the same FD‑EC unit from multiple controllers or software tools simultaneously.
Only one active Modbus‑TCP connection is supported at a time.
