Grid limits
The grid system, current and power limits are requested during the initial setup. You can later change them from the menu "Settings" in the commissioning interface.

-
Enter the nominal current of the main circuit breaker of the electrical installation.
-
Choose the appropriate grid system under "Grid system." You have the choice of:
- Single-phase 230V
- Three-phase wye 230V line-neutral / 400V line-line
- Three-phase delta 230V line-line
-
Under "Allowed grid import power", enter the maximum power that may be taken from the grid.
This corresponds to an import limit. -
Under "Allowed grid export power" enter the maximum power that may be fed back to the grid.
This corresponds to an export limit. -
You can optionally enter a safety margin, under "Allowed grid export power safety margin" if desired.
"Three-phase delta 230V line-line" occurs only in certain geographical areas.
Allowed Grid Export Power Safety Margin (kW)
By default, this is set to 0.0 if you’re working in the cloud—meaning no extra buffer is added.
If you’re running outside of the cloud, a minimum safety margin of 1.5% is required.
How is the Grid Export Margin Determined?
The Grid Export Safety Margin is an optional extra buffer added to the maximum power your system can send back to the grid. It helps make sure you follow utility rules and accounts for small measurement errors.
By default, this safety margin is read from the system’s settings (called metadata).
This value is given in kilowatts (kW) and converted internally to watts (W).
If the system is not running in the cloud, a minimum safety margin is enforced to protect the grid.
Grid Export Safety Margin Explanation
To keep the electrical grid safe and stable, a minimum safety margin of 1.5% is always applied.
This margin is based on whichever power limit—import or export—is farthest from zero.
The export limit is then lowered by this margin to create a safety buffer.
This buffer prevents the system from running too close to the export limit, helping keep the grid reliable and safe.
Example:
Parameter | Value |
---|---|
Import power limit | 10.0 kW |
Export power limit | 10.0 kW |
Standard safety margin | 0.0 kW |
Minimum required margin | 1.5% of 10.0 kW = 0.15 kW |
Adjusted export limit | 9.85 kW |
