Hoymiles
The SmartgridOne Controller integrates with two Hoymiles product families: the DTU-Pro / Pro-S microinverter gateway and the HoyUltra energy storage systems (ESS).

DTU-Pro / Pro-S (Microinverters)
The DTU-Pro/Pro-S is a gateway that collects production data from the connected microinverters and forwards power-limit commands to all of them. Each microinverter port is read individually (voltage, current, power, energy and temperature), while curtailment is applied to the system as a whole.
Note
Curtailment is applied as a single active-power limit (in %) to all microinverters connected to the DTU simultaneously. Individual microinverters cannot be curtailed separately. The limit is clamped to a minimum of 2% for third-generation inverters; a setpoint of 0% switches all microinverters off.
Ethernet Connection (Modbus TCP)
Make sure that the Controller and the DTU are connected to the same network, and that the DTU has
Modbus TCP enabled (default port 502).
For correct ethernet wiring, follow the guidelines for ethernet wiring.
RS485 Connection
For RS485 wiring, follow the guidelines for RS485 wiring. Use the following serial settings:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Baud rate | 9600 |
| Data bits | 8 |
| Parity | None |
| Stop bits | 1 |
HoyUltra (Energy Storage)
The HoyUltra ESS consists of a Power Conversion System (PCS/EMS) and one or more battery units. The Controller reads system- and unit-level state of charge, state of health, power and energy, and controls the system through an active-power setpoint.
Ethernet Connection (Modbus TCP)
HoyUltra systems are controlled exclusively over Modbus TCP (default port 502). Make sure the
Controller and the HoyUltra EMS are on the same network.
For correct ethernet wiring, follow the guidelines for ethernet wiring.
Important
Before commissioning, you must contact Hoymiles (support@hoymiles.com) to set the EMS Modbus communication timeout to 30 seconds. If this timeout is not configured correctly, the EMS will repeatedly drop the connection and the Controller will report communication errors and lose control of the system.
